Meet ISPA's 2017 Sweden Fellowship Program participant John Chantler!
Producer, Edition Festival
John Chantler is an organiser and musician originally from Australia, but now based in Stockholm after extended periods in Japan and London, UK.
He is the director of the Edition Festival in Stockholm, an annual event for improvised and other music that he inaugurated in 2016 and also delivers related programmes covering improvised music, electro-acoustic music and contemporary composition.
Prior to moving to Sweden John worked for four years as the senior producer at London’s noted experimental music venue Cafe OTO.
As a musician he has performed at significant music festivals and venues internationally including CTM, Berlin; Akousma, Montreal; and Issue Project Room, New York and has published several, critically acclaimed recordings.
John is also an elected board member of FRIM (Society for Free Improvisation) and the Sound of Stockholm festival and a member of Fylkingen (Society for New Music and Intermedia Art) and RANK (National Society for Contemporary Music Producers).
