Meet ISPA's 2017 Global Fellowship Program participant Consuelo Hidalgo!
Cultural Director, Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano
Consuelo Hidalgo is currently the Cultural Director at the Ecuador – United States Binational Center in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In 2012 she founded "Arts Leap" which developed community-based partnerships, as a means of building the audience required to ensure high-quality arts learning for young people. Before that, she worked for 4 years as Cultural Promoter at The Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, where she was responsible for educational and audience development programs, international relations. She started her professional career as PR Manager at the Colonial Art Museum Nahim Isaias, in Guayaquil, where she developed multiple cultural projects that pursued the integration of underprivileged citizens at the museum´s cultural activities. This project was called “Cultura Para Todos” which has been successfully expanded to other cities in her country. In 2006 worked at the "MAAC", an anthropologic and contemporary art museum, managing a new project called "Vivir La Cultura" offering free performing arts presentations in open spaces in the city of Guayaquil. In 2008, she participated in the U.S Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts International Cultural Exchange Fellows Mentoring Program for Performing Arts Managers. And in 2012 she finished the Summer International Fellowship Program at the DeVos Arts Management Institute held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She recently participated in the Intensive Executive Program in Fundraising for the Performing Arts, held at the Accademia Teatro alla Scalla in Milan, Italy.
