Meet ISPA's 2017 Australia Fellowship Program participant Viv Rosman!

Viv Rosman

Australia

Executive Director/Co-CEO, Polyglot Theatre

Viv is the Executive Director and Co-CEO of Polyglot Theatre, Australia’s leading creator of interactive and participatory theatre for children and their families. She has senior experience in a diverse range of arts organisations and a history of over 18 years in the arts. Viv was previously Deputy General Manager of Griffin Theatre Company and established the highly successful Managing and Producing Services (MAPS NSW) program at Performing Lines, through which she produced the work of leading contemporary performance makers including Branch Nebula, POST and Martin del Amo.

Viv was Program Manager of Darwin Festival for three festivals and spent several years in the programming team of Sydney Festival. She has also worked for Sydney Opera House and for many of the country’s major theatre companies.

Viv holds a Bachelor of Dramatic Art in Production from NIDA and a Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of South Australia. She was previously a board member of Shopfront Youth Arts and currently serves on the board of Theatre Network NSW.

ISPA:
Viv, What are the three adjectives that describe you?
Viv:
Calm, curious, and tenacious

ISPA:

What’s your favorite city in the world?
Viv: In Australia, Sydney and Melbourne have an intense rivalry. Sydney is considered the beauty, while Melbourne is the brains. I live in Melbourne now, and it's a fabulous city and a vibrant, connected cultural hub. But when I fly in over Sydney's coastline, the way my heart sings tells me I'm home! New York City is also very high on my list of favourite places in the world, so the opportunity to be there for the ISPA Congress is a privilege on many levels.

ISPA:

Can you name one channel that you subscribe to or frequently visit to stay up-to-date with news about the arts and culture in your region?
Viv: ArtsHub (artshub.com.au) is a very handy resource for Australian arts professionals. It's a jobs listing service, but also publishes news from across the sector, and is a useful source of industry gossip. The monthly e-newsletters of Theatre Network NSW (of which I'm a proud Board member) and its big sister organisation, Theatre Network Australia, are also jam-packed with industry news and opportunities.
