Fellowship Programs

ISPA's Fellowship Programs were created to provide emerging and mid-career performing arts professionals with the opportunity to expand their international networks through membership and attendance at an ISPA Congress.  In 2016, there are 48 Fellows from 24 countries participating.  The Fellows represent all disciplines, genres and types of arts organizations.

The Fellowship consists of four components:

1. Membership in ISPA

Fellows gain access to all member benefits including exclusive content on the ISPA website, newsletters, and social media.

2. ISPA Congress in New York, NY

Fellows attend the New York ISPA Congress where they get the opportunity to engage in the development and exchange of ideas with leaders from the world's most significant arts organizations.

3. Fellows Seminar Day

Fellows attend a one-day Seminar prior to the New York Congress where they meet the Fellowship cohort and learn from global industry professionals through a series of intimate conversations and workshops.

4. Ongoing Networking

Each new Fellow is paired with a current ISPA member at the New York Congress as part of ISPA's Community Building Program.  Current members welcome Fellows to the Congress and help facilitate their participation.

Who Should Apply?

Individuals working in the management of the performing arts who are deeply committed to increasing the global connectivity of the industry, and those who take initiative in their own professional development.  Those who enjoy engaging with a diverse group of people will be the most successful in the program.  In considering application, please be aware that the ISPA Congress is not a traditional arts market and opportunities for self-promotion are limited.

ISPA currently offers two types of Fellowship Program: Global Fellowship and Regional Fellowships.

Global Fellowship Program

The Global Fellowship is an annual program open to emerging and mid-career leaders from all regions of the globe, with particular attention paid to applicants from developing economies.

Regional Fellowship Programs

The Regional Fellowships are extended engagement programs open to emerging and mid-career leaders from specific regions of the world.  Generally, the programs facilitate participation in ISPA for 1 to 3 years (some exceptions apply).  Target regions and program details vary and are determined by the funding made available from the applicable region.

There are currently nine Regional Fellowship Programs operating in the following regions: Australia, Canada, England, Denmark, Latin America, Middle East & Northern Africa, Netherlands, Scotland, and Sweden.  Please check back periodically for new and/or renewed program availability.
