Ubuntu Revisited
Congress June 19-22
Academy June 23-24

Plans continue to progress for this year's June Congress in Durban, South Africa. There are currently 130 registrants and the number grows daily. In addition to the much talked about Awards Dinner at the Tala Game Reserve, the opening night will feature a gala with local entertainment and a key note address. The sessions include discussions on cross-cultural collaborations, non-traditional venues and funding the arts Ð all led by a series of both local and international experts. Our hosts continue to develop a schedule that will certainly provoke, challenge and inform not to mention entertain, with a strong line-up of local performances infusing the program. Watch the website for further updates on speakers and registrations!

National Performing Arts Conference
The second National Performing Arts Convention, to be held in Denver, Colorado from June 10-14, 2008, will convene over 5,000 artists, arts administrators, trustees and volunteers. The Convention offers an opportunity to address issues facing the entire performing arts community. Speakers and presenters will include well-known luminaries such as Jim Collins, author of Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap ... And Others Don't..

The Convention and Conference boasts an array of sessions -- cross-disciplinary and medium-specific -- that speak to issues faced by arts leaders today. A sampling of conference sessions for opera professionals include such topics as Electronic Media, Group Sales, 21st Century Marketing Techniques, Making the Case for Education Programs, Leadership Transitions, Capital Campaigns, Creating/Managing Fellowships, Visa Roundtable and Partnerships with Universities.

To learn more about the Convention and to register, visit the web site at http://www.performingartsconvention.org/

ISPA is proud to be a supporting participant of the second National Performing Arts Convention.

As always, we welcome your ideas, suggestions and comments. I look forward to seeing you in Durban but if not, hopefully in our new offices in New York.
