Speaker: Pat Kane, based in Glasgow, has been both a newspaper editor/writer and a pop/jazz musician. He is currently working on a book based on his ideas for The Play Ethic, which, he claims, will enable us to ‘live creatively’ in the next century – and why the ‘work ethic’ has to go.

Will the world economy produce only world culture?
Speaker: Dr Marilyn Waring, former NZ parliamentarian, a feminist economist, a development consultant who has worked in more than a dozen countries, a farmer and an activist for "female human rights", Dr Waring is currently Associate Professor in Social Policy and Social Work at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand.

Facilitator: Dr Simon Longstaff, Executive Director of the St James Ethics Centre. Established in 1989, the Centre is an independent forum, based in Sydney and Melbourne, for the promotion of business and professional ethics.

Nomadlozi Kubheka, Director, Linkfest Art Promoters, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and a leading advocate for African arts and the challenges faced by developing countries in the face of globalisation.
Rhoda Roberts, member of the Aboriginal Bundjalung nation, Wiyebal clan, was Director of the Olympic Festival of the Dreaming in 1997, co-creative director for the Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2000 of which, she was also Indigenous Cultural Advisor.  Well known for her work with SBS television as a journalist and presenter for the current affairs program, Vox Populi, she has also worked for Network Ten and ABC Radio as a producer and journalist.

Speaker: Phillip Adams, writer, broadcaster and filmmaker, has had a wide-ranging career in many industries ranging from hard nosed advertising through newspaper and radio journalism to reviving the Australian film industry, and now in television and the arts. This is his personal vision of why we persist.
