ISPA Fellows

ISPA’s Fellowship Program provides emerging leaders from the performing arts field access to ISPA’s extensive international network of arts professionals.  Fellows have the opportunity to engage in the development and exchange of ideas with leaders from some of the world's most significant presenting organizations, performing arts organizations, artist management agencies, cultural policy groups, foundations, consultants, and related professionals.  ISPA Fellows also gain industry knowledge and expand their portfolio of resources through educational opportunities.  Please be aware in considering your application that the ISPA Congress is not a traditional arts market and opportunities for self-promotion are limited to specific programs.

Each year a select group of emerging leaders participate in ISPA’s Fellowship Program.  Successful Fellows receive a complimentary full pass registration to the New York ISPA Congress (including access to a one day arts management seminar prior to the congress), a partial to full subsidization of travel and accommodation expenses related to attending the Congress, and a complimentary one year ISPA Membership (including full access to all member benefits).

Alumni of ISPA’s Fellowship Program may be found working all across the globe within diverse sectors of the performing arts.  Fellowship Program participants often continue to stay engaged and active with the ISPA network well after their participation in the program.

ISPA is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2012 Fellowship Program.  Please follow this link to the 2012 Fellowship Recipients to learn more about the emerging leaders attending this year's 64th Annual New York Congress - Art in Action! Community, Crisis & Change.

ISPA would like to thank their Patrons for making the Fellowship Program possible.

Who should apply?

Performing arts professionals who are deeply committed to advancing the field in a global context are most likely to benefit from the program.  Those who take initiative in their professional development and enjoy engaging with a diverse group of individuals will be most successful in the program.  Applicants may be emerging in their careers or established in their careers locally but emerging on the international performing arts scene.  Applications from all regions of the world will be considered, with particular attention paid to applicants from developing economies.  Prospective Fellows should meet the criteria listed above, as well as the following:
  • Be currently employed/working in the performing arts;
  • Have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in the performing arts field;
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance;
  • Ability to attend and fully participate in a one-day Fellowship orientation and educational seminar on Monday, January 9th, 2012 in New York City.
  • Ability to attend and fully participate in ISPA’s 64th New York Congress on January 10 – 12, 2012 in New York City.
  • Have received no more than one ISPA Fellowship in the past;
ISPA welcomes all eligible applications.  Unfortunately, the demand for the Fellowship Program far exceeds ISPA’s resources and the program may not be able to accommodate all qualified applicants or specific financial requests.  Generally cash subsidies do not exceed $2,500 USD.
