White Bird, a dance-presenting organization based in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a qualified individual to fill its newly created position of General Manager (GM). Reporting to the two Co-Founders, the GM will have oversight over areas of strategic planning, finance, development/fundraising, marketing, audience relations, data management, and staff management. GM will work closely with Co-Founders in these areas, and will have a particular focus on earned and contributed income. Essential qualifications include undergraduate degree; passion for the performing arts; total commitment to White BirdŐs mission; experience in management within a nonprofit environment, preferably within an arts organization; ability to lead a professional staff effectively; strong business acumen and decision-making abilities; strong ability to grasp big-picture issues balanced by close attention to detail; experience in financial management, including budgeting; experience in fundraising and/or marketing; highly creative and resourceful approaches toward all tasks; strong oral and writing skills; thorough knowledge of basic computer programs.
