Director - Center for Creative and Performing Arts, Wesleyan College Mission Statement The Center for Creative and Performing Arts serves Wesleyan College and the middle Georgia community with programming in Visual Arts, Music and Theatre. The Center enhances the learner-centered curriculum by scheduling events which strengthen Wesleyan’s academic mission and attract qualified students to the college. Job Description Wesleyan College, a selective national liberal arts college for women in Macon, GA, seeks a dynamic, imaginative Director of its Center for Creative and Performing Arts. The Director should have a broad knowledge of the creative and performing arts and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. The Director will report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College in an administrative appointment with faculty status. In conjunction with the Fine Arts faculty and staff, the Director will
- develop and guide an exciting program of multi-disciplinary exhibitions and performances which reinforce the educational goals of a small liberal arts college,
- coordinate programming with other local and regional arts and education venues,
- strengthen community relationships through outreach programs, audience development, and marketing activities of the Center,
- work directly with the VP for Enrollment to coordinate all recruitment efforts for students in the division of fine arts,
- manage day to day activities of the Center and its annual operating budget,
- coordinate grant solicitation and private donor fund raising with Wesleyan’s Advancement Office,
- coordinate alumnae/donor/public relations for the Center, and
- supervise students in arts management internships.
The Director may also teach courses in arts management. The selected candidate will have a master’s level degree in arts administration, theatre, music or the visual arts, or comparable professional experience in any arts field. Salary is commensurate with experience.
