Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Development, Major Gifts (ADMG) is responsible for managing the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major individual donors. WPAS categorizes major individual donors as those people who give $1000 or more personally. This position works with the Board of Directors, WPAS president, president emeritus, development director and senior staff to develop strategies to encourage current major donors to increase their level of giving and identify prospects for new major donors.

  • Supervises the Membership Manager and the Major Gifts Associate
  • Manages cultivation and stewardship of mid-level donors or $1000-$10,000 as well as major individual donors of $10,000 and more
  • With the Director of Special Events, plans cultivation/recognition events around performances and educational programs
  • Identifies and cultivates prospective performance underwriters

Essential Capabilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Genuine interest in a wide range of people
  • Good judgment, tact, patience and sense of humor
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Affinity for the performing arts a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum BA degree and 5+ years experience in fundraising
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience working with high level volunteers
