Weather will be a highly visual and physical dance work that explores our relationship to the environment and larger forces beyond our control. It makes a connection between climate events and the human body through the infinite kinetic and dynamic possibilities of both. Weather will examine the contrast between scientific representations through maps, diagrams and forecasting and the historic use of weather in art to depict internal emotional states.
Choreographer Lucy Guerin will work with designer Robert Cousins to create an environment on stage formed of ephemeral elements including wind, mist and light, which will make visible the invisible forces in the atmosphere.
Weather will address the forces that connect us to the fluctuations of nature. Through the delicacy of snow or the power of a storm, this engaging dance work will examine physical sensation, visual beauty and social responsibility, manifesting the delicacy and brutality inherent in our conflicted relationship with the earth.
