L'Espace du Temps, a trilogy of dances (Foreign Bodies, Fearful Symmetries, Fluid Infinities), constitutes a meditation on the space of time from creation through evolution and into the unknown. The trilogy evokes the familiar and foreign by exploring the shifting architecture of human progress and the ever-changing processes within and without that drive it. Artistic Director Jacques Heim brings the music of modern greats Esa-Pekka Salonen, John Adams, and Philip Glass into the theatrical world of kinetic movement, allowing audiences to experience another dimension of the creativity of these pillars of modern orchestra. L’Espace du Temps is more than merely a special event; it is a new music festival unto itself. Originally commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and premiering at the Hollywood Bowl, the production footprint of L’Espace du Temps allows the piece to be presented onstage, in many concert halls, with live orchestra or to recorded score.
