Strainer is a performance about the individual and society. Through a fusion of different means of physical storytelling, including contemporary circus, dance and physical theatre, Strainer tells the story of a developing relationship between two lovers – interjected by encounters with the Third Man, who weaves in and out of their story. Over the course of history, humankind has created ever more complex social rules to deal with the interaction of ever larger groups of people in ever more confined spaces. We need social rules to function, but what happens when the limit of complexity is reached? With us as individuals and with society? Strainer takes a look inside to see what sifts through.
