Invitation THIS EVENT HAS PASSED. THESE PAGES WILL REMAIN AS AN ARCHIVE OF THE CONVERSATION. Dear Colleagues, ISPA and Piccolo Teatro di Milano are delighted to invite you to the September 2007 ISPA Regional meeting that will take place at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, which joined ISPA as a new member in 2006.. Founded in 1949, the International Society for Performing Arts is a global
network for leaders in the performing arts. There are currently more than
350 members, from more than 60 countries, including London Symphony Orchestra,
Lincoln Center of New York and the Barbican Centre of London. For the first time in its almost 60 years, ISPA has scheduled a Regional Meeting in Milano, Italy, hosted by famous Piccolo Teatro di Milano, September 27-29. President of ISPA, Martha Jones, reports that ''the international Board of Directors of ISPA is delighted that our colleagues from Piccolo Teatro di Milano have invited us for a Regional Meeting in September. The depth and richness of Italian performing arts, and the pivotal role they have played over the past centuries in western arts are undisputed, and our global membership has much to gain from this interaction.'' The aim of the meeting will be focused on a deep analyses of the culture, arts and theatre of the Mediterranean Area. We count on our presence to meet top-notch speakers, artists and leading cultural experts, and to have a closer look and gain necessary information about Italy and the Mediterranean countries. Our keynote speakers will analyze the following two main subjects besides other sub-topics:
Piccolo Teatro General Manager, Sergio Escobar, reports that ''on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Piccolo Teatro, we are so glad to host ISPA Regional Meeting, since ISPA will celebrate their 60th anniversary next year too. In particular the Knowledge and Cultural Fluidity into the Euro-Mediterranean Area is a subject of which Piccolo Teatro is greatly concerned. The search for a relationship with the Mediterranean countries in fact was born, for us, from an inclination for a cultural and intellectual adventure. It has driven our history for the last sixty years. A path that I would say is necessary for people like us, who have in our DNA that which Edgar Morin calls a sense of brotherhood, curiosity and a lack of certainty.'' We look forward to welcoming you to Milan! Sincerely yours,
Please note that the organizers should know about your intention of coming no later than Monday September 10th, 2007. Delegates would only be responsible for their flight and accommodation costs, and we will assist with identifying a suitable hotel accommodation. Please respond to Lynne Caruso at the ISPA
