Margaret King StanleyJoin us congratulating lifetime ISPA Honorary Member Margaret King Stanley on being awarded ARTS San Antonio Award for Lifetime Service to Community Cultural Enrichment! We want to take this as an opportunity to share this adorable short video clip via our Facebook Page that Margaret sent us a while ago. She talks about bits of wonderful ISPA memories. You can read more about her award on the San Antonio Express-News website or reproduced below.

Thanks to Margaret King Stanley, a generation or two of San Antonians had the opportunity to see artistic genius, live onstage.

In her long career, Stanley served as founding director of the San Antonio Performing Arts Association, artistic advisor to the San Antonio Symphony and vice president for institutional development for the Carver Community Cultural Center.

Her contributions to the city will be recognized Thursday night at the ARTS San Antonio Gala when she receives the first ARTS San Antonio Award for Lifetime Service to Community Cultural Enrichment.

“We all are awed by Margaret’s lifelong commitment to and success in bringing the world’s greatest performing arts to San Antonio” John Toohey, president and executive director of ARTS San Antonio, said in a statement.

Among the artists and companies Stanley brought to San Antonio are: ballet dancers Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov; flamenco dancer Jose Greco; composer Philip Glass; classical musicians Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma and Mstislav Rostropovich; the Joffrey Ballet, the Alvin Ailey Dancers and the Martha Graham Dance Company.

The “All You Need is Love” gala, featuring Beatles tribute band the Eggmen, is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lila Cockrell Theatre.
