CripFest, Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Set for BAM
Friday, July 17, 2015
American Horror Story:Freak Show's Mat Fraser curates this free one-day festival celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Professional disabled artists present performance, visual art and video works with celebration, agitation, and Cripsploitation—while reclaiming their identities as part of a larger movement of creative artists who are reshaping the notion of disability in our world, away from the inaccurate performances of disability on Broadway.
In Fraser's own words, “CripFest will explode the condescending do-gooder myths around disability, showing the dangerous, transgressive, and amazing work of some of the most radical and exciting artists in the UK and US.”
Saturday, July 25th, 2015
2pm - 11pm
321 Ashland Place
Brooklyn, NY 11217
Supported by British Council, the festival includes comedy, dance, theatre, burlesque, film, special guests and more. To check out the full schedule of the event and RSVP, visit CripFest official website or BAM's website.
