Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016 - The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) is now accepting applications for Pitch New Works, a forum for creators and presenters to promote their new performing arts projects that are in development, or that have recently premiered.  Selected projects will have the opportunity to be pitched at the Melbourne 2016 ISPA Congress, Reimagining, on June 3rd, 2016.  Information about how to apply can be found on the Pitch New Works section of the ISPA website (www.ispa.org).  The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, March 17th, 2016.

About Pitch New Works

At Pitch New Works two presenters serving as project representatives will share their new work with ISPA’s prestigious international network of more than 500 performing arts professionals from 50 countries. Selected applicants have seven minutes to “pitch” their new work and three minutes following to answer questions facilitated by the program hostAfter the pitch session, participants have the opportunity to interact directly with delegates during ISPA’s informal networking session; ProEx (Professional Exchange).

Pitch New Works will be held at The Summer, Southbank Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, in Melbourne, Australia on June 3rd, 2016

Who should apply?

Those interested in presenting a new project to an international delegation of performing arts industry professionals. Priority will be given to projects that reflect the diversity and character of the Asia Pacific region, although all submissions will be considered.  Multi-disciplinary and/or cross-cultural projects are particularly attractive to ISPA.  What does ISPA consider a “new” work?  New prospective projects must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be in development and will premiere within the next two years OR;
  • Has recently premiered but has not yet toured outside of their respective region

Submissions from the canon and/or remounts will be considered where there is evidence of a substantially new interpretation and/or a new production team.

Applicants do not need to be ISPA members (a non-member application fee is 50 USD).  Applications will be reviewed by a committee of ISPA members chaired by Piotr Turkiewicz (National Forum of Music, Poland).

Past Pitch New Works participants have secured additional project support, representation, touring opportunities, performance engagements, international exposure, premiere locations, and more as a direct result of their presentations at the ISPA Congress.
