Today we are highlighting Toten Tanz Boden, one of our pitch projects introduced to ISPA delegates at the Malmö/Copenhagen 2015 ISPA Congress. Toten Tanz Boden is a unique piece of musical theatre developed by German-based theatre company Familie Flöz with music by Franui Musicbanda. The juxtaposition of Familie Flöz’ masked and mime-based humorous theatre and Franui’s funeral marches creates a piece in which its characters grapple with their fear of death with comical exuberance.

We caught up with Familie Flöz’ Production Manager, Gianni Bettuci, who provided us with the following update:

“After the pitch in Malmö we have been looking for partners and co-producers in Germany, Austria and other European countries. We have so far three confirmed Producers (Theatre and Music Festivals) and at least 12 theaters in Europe who will welcome the production. We are currently still looking for two more co-producers and a suitable venue in Berlin for the Premiere in 2018. The Pitch in Malmö was a great opportunity to give an idea to the ISPA Family of the quality and nature of our work. Since then the intensity of our « being » in ISPA, the interaction with and the interest of the members has dramatically increased and lots of interest links, work relationships and touring possibilities for the existing productions have been established since.”

With a proven track record for success, ISPA’s Pitch New Works program continues to assist works in development with securing touring dates, regional agents, co-commissions, premieres, and more.
