Carl HonoreCarl Honoré

Carl Honoré is an award-winning journalist and author.  He worked with street children in Brazil before turning to writing.  He has covered Europe and South America for the Economist, Observer, Washington Post, Miami Herald, Houston Chronicle, Time Magazine, and the Canadian National Post.

His first book, In Praise of Slowness, examines our compulsion to hurry and chronicles a global trend toward putting on the brakes.  Hailed as a manual for leading a richer, more productive life by publications ranging from Oprah Magazine to Business Week, it was the inaugural selection of the new Huffington Post book club in October 2009.

His second book, Under Pressure, examines the good, the bad and the ugly of modern childrearing - and offers a blueprint for change.  His books have been translated into more than 30 languages, shortlisted for literary prizes and landed on bestseller lists in many countries.

Carl has been described by ABC News as “the unofficial godfather of a growing cultural shift toward slowing down.”  Newsweek called him “an international spokesman for the concept of leisure.”  Huffington Post named him “the godfather of the Slow movement.”

Carl lives in London with his wife and their two children.
