Our Congress
Curator Joe Melillo, and Chair Michael Mushalla have just added the
final touch to end our January Congress on a high
note: Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony
Kushner will
participate in our Closing Conversation on Friday January 7th at 3:00
pm, bringing this intensely stimulating line-up of speakers/panelists
to a close!
An excerpt
from Tony’s online biography describes his
recent success:
In
the early 1990s, he scored a monster hit with the epic, seven-hour,
two-part,
Broadway blockbuster Angels in America:
A Gay Fantasia on National Themes which earned for Kushner
a Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, two Drama Desk Awards, the
Evening Standard Award,
two Olivier Award Nominations, the New York Critics Circle
Award, the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and the LAMBDA Liberty
Award
for Drama.
Kushner
is known as a politically engaged playwright whose opinions
are widely sought on a wide range of topics, and he will challenge
us with his views, intellect, wit and moral convictions.
