As artistic director of Hotel Pro Forma since 1985, Dehlholm has dedicated her life to the experimental and interdisciplinary performing arts. On April 6th 2015 Dehlholm turned 70.
Dehlholm’s influence on the performing arts in Denmark and Europe extend beyond her individual works. Dehlholm constantly thrives to keep an investigative curiosity and an exploration of existential themes in her works.
Her experimental and almost natural-science approach to the arts, the visual and its constant insistence on demanding something with her art has characterized Kirsten Dehlholm work, which is deeply rooted in the visual arts. Her vision is of constant curiosity and she always manages to weave an eternal youth into her works.
Recent performances include ‘Cosmos+’ , a vision of how the performing arts can illuminate new and other aspects of our existence, for the first time for Dehlhom targeting a younger audience as well as staging Wagner in Poland and Latvia.
One of the clearest works and clearly a signature piece from Dehlholm, is the production of 'Operation : Orfeo' which is based on the famous myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. It is from 1993, and was re-staged with the Latvian Radio Choir and Latvian National Opera in 2008.
Upcoming works include staging Rachmaninov operas at La Monnaie / De Munt in Belgium and a new project entitled Neoarctic, which focuses on the beauty, esthetics and visual universe of the Arctic-region, to premiere in 2016 at the Latvian National Opera and The Royal Danish Theatre.
