Located at the very center of Colombia, Bogotá is a city that rises 2,600 meters above sea level. It is home to almost 8 million inhabitants, many of which have migrated from the many regions of the country, creating a population that is dynamic and diverse. Over the past 15 years, the city has become an example of innovation and transformation. According to the most recent analysis by the World Bank, Bogotá is among the Top 8 cities in the region where doing business is easiest. The city currently accounts for 25% of Colombia's GDP. It is the main business center of the nation and the 6th largest in the region.

Bogotá has a vibrant cultural life, offering a variety of museums, libraries, theaters, as wells as music and dance options. The city is home to several performing arts festivals. The Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá, which will happen simultaneously with ISPA Bogotá 2014, is one of the city’s star events; its 2012 edition featured over 65 foreign companies, and reached over 2,500,000 spectators. In 2012 UNESCO recognized Bogotá as one of the 35 member cities of the Network of Creative Cities. Bogotá was also selected by UNESCO as a City of Music, being its musical movement a global example of mass audience mobilizations. Bogota's "At the Park" open-air music festivals summon large audiences that come to listen to rock, jazz, salsa, opera, hip-hop, and traditional Colombian music in an outdoor setting, free of charge. Rock al Parque (Rock the Park) is the largest open-air rock festival in Latin America and the third largest in the world.
