Meet ISPA's 2015 Regional (Sweden) Fellowship Program participant Ragnar Berthling!

Background — Musician + Swedish Film Institute as head of distribution and cinema programmer, later manager of import and distributions subsidies which came to include a number of projects parallel to this. Among them a series of Swedish silent film classics presented, live, for television and on dvd (international distribution). In addition to this I did, and still do clubs in new and experimental music, film poetry under the name of SEKT which also includes a record label. SEKT formed 2010 a festival named Sound of Stockholm (November every year since).

Today — managing director of Musikcentrum Öst and head of international promotion of Musikcentrum Sweden. Main task is promotion of the members, groups or soloists. We represent a large part of the most prominent artists and independent musicians in most genres. World music, contemporary, jazz, folk, cabaret, electronic, shows for kids and more. We take part and so showcases in a number of international fairs and expos.

Ragnar, what are the three adjectives that describe you? 
Ragnar: 
Impulsive, eager, and talker!

ISPA:

What’s your favorite city in the world?
Ragnar: New York City without a doubt.
 
ISPA:

Can you tell me the name of the life-changing performance that you either watched or participated in?
Ragnar: It might have been 1976, an outdoor concert in Stockholm, Lou Reed was playing louder than anyone I have heard before, (I was 14) and yet, it was like he was whispering in my ear, "there’s a big world out there". And a few years later, I found out that it was true...
