Steinunn Birna Ragnarsdóttir studied piano at the Reykjavík College of Music, where she received her soloist’s degree. She received her Master’s degree from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She lived and worked in Spain for a while. Steinunn has received various awards for her performances and appeared in concerts in Europe and the United States. A vigorous performer and Artistic Director, Ragnarsdóttir is also an active participant in the cultural life of her native Reykjavík. She has participated in many international Music Festivals, Her solo performances with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra have been issued on CD´s, including an album that earned her the 1998 Icelandic Music Award for the year’s best classical CD. She is the founder of the Reykholt Music Festival and took on the position as the Artistic Director of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland in 2010.
