JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Head of Music will be responsible for setting the artistic framework for music at Sydney Opera House, for
leading the development of strategy and new initiatives within this artform, and for artistic planning and selection.
The Head of Music will also feed into internal equipment resource and infrastructure planning processes so that
theatre technical facilities are prioritised as an essential component of delivering our diverse artistic programs.
Guided by the Artistic Vision, the Head will oversee and develop a broad range of music events for SOH,
including the delivery of discrete music programs tailored to a diverse range of venues and contexts. These
programs and events are expected to include high profile international music events for the Concert Hall as well
as events suited to more intimate experiences (The Studio, The Utzon Room).

SELECTION CRITERIA TO ADDRESS IN YOUR APPLICATION:

1. A high-level profile as a respected member of the music or cultural sector.
2. Extensive knowledge and appetite for most forms and genres of music, including the latest contemporary trends.
3. Significant experience in developing and producing music programs and selecting content and artists for programs.
4. Strong knowledge of the workings of the music industry and its national and international networks which can be utilised to support this role.
5. Experience in developing and implementing business plans and strategies.
6. Experience in a leadership role in an arts, music or entertainment organisation.
7. Capacity to embrace the commercial imperatives of an arts organisation, including the roles played by marketing, sponsorship and philanthropy.
8. Exceptional communication and relationship management skills and an ability to bring credibility and authority to their public advocacy for music.
9. Negotiation and contract management skills.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Job Status: Temporary, Full Time (2yr Contract )

Salary Package: Base Salary of $95,512
Salary Notes: This position is covered by the SOH Enterprise Agreement
