2009 Fellowship Recipients

The 2009 Fellowship Program granted eight fellowships to the diverse group of emerging leaders listed below.  Learn more about ISPA's Fellowship Program.

Roysten AbelRoysten Abel (Delhi, India) is a leading theatre director in India based in New Delhi.  His work ranges from Shakespeare with contemporary actors to modern productions with itinerant artists like jugglers, acrobats, puppeteers, and magicians creating contemporary work with their traditional skills.  He is in the process of creating an international center for contemporary folk and traditional arts and hopes to have it ready by 2012.
Vanini BelarminoVanini Belarmino (Berlin, Germany) is an international cultural producer/curator based in Berlin, specializing in creative collaborations.  She is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Belarmino&Pop GbR, established in March 2008 with Susa Pop.  The company commits itself to process-oriented and interdisciplinary initiatives with a vision of creating innovative framework for artistic exchanges.
Natalia CivardiNatalia Civardi (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is in charge of Artistic Relations for the Teatro Argentino de la Plata, a state-run performing arts centre located in La Plata near Buenos Aires.  The centre has multidisciplinary programming that takes place in a main auditorium of 1980 seats and a second auditorium of 308 seats.  A third multidisciplinary space is used to present different artistic exhibitions.
Jean GomesJean Gomes (Cascais, Portugal) is a member of the cabinet of the Portugal Minister of Education and was recently appointed Chairman of the Assembly.  Mr. Gomes previously served as the CEO of the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and was co-founder of the Tejo National Orchestra.  Jean Gomes founded and currently leads Globe Artists; an artist management firm.
Karen JeynesKaren Jeynes (Cape Town, South Africa), writer and producer, is the General Secretary of PANSA WC and serves on the National Committee.  PANSA is an industry-led organization which works to build, bind and brand the performing arts in South Africa.
Lucimara LetelierLucimara Letelier (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is the founder and CEO of Artefoco, a consulting firm focused on Development, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising for the arts sector.  She has over 10 years of experience in arts management in Museums, Orchestras, Culture Centers, and NGOs in both Brazil and the US.  Ms. Letelier holds a Master in Arts Administration degree from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Communications-Marketing from ESPM-SP/Brazil.
Shila MehtaShila Mehta (Mumbai, India) is the artistic Director of Nupur Zankar Academy Of Performing Arts & Research Centre – Mumbai-India, and an internationally renowned Kathak dancer & choreographer.  She is recognized for artistry, eloquence and spirituality in her presentations, which have won her many prestigious awards all over the world.  Her innovation “Charani Kathak” speaks a volume on her creative ability.
Dr. Oi Min WongDr. Oi Min Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) holds a PhD. in Arts and is the Artistic Director of EN Theatre Production.  EN was established on Dr. Wong's belief of pursuing cross-boundary exchange for multicultural coexistence.  EN produces theatrical productions relate to issues surround the community and has a strong focus on using theatre for education, communication, social welfare and concern purposes.
