Meet ISPA's 2018 Global Fellowship Program participant Tomy Lorenzo Badiane!

Arts & Culture Program Manager, DECLIC (Integrated Civic Leadership & Community Development)

Tomy Lorenzo Badiane, also known as Badson, is one of the leading MCs in the Casamance Hip Hop scene and an Arts and Culture Program Manager. Tomy’s professional background covers Project Management, Leadership Development, Community Development and Urban Culture Activism. He is very familiar with the Senegalese Urban Arts industry as he worked for numerous projects in Ziguinchor, Senegal. These projects include Special events performances, Arts and Culture Festival Organization, Leadership Development Project Management and Arts and Culture Program Management. His current projects include coordinating and facilitating DECLIC activities in Ziguinchor and around Casamance. He also volunteers as Communication Officer and Hip Hop Festival Coordinator for Casa Cult Urb, an association of urban artists from Ziguinchor, Casamance. Tomy holds an MA in African Literature and Civilization from the English Department of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. He has had the opportunity to be a Mandela Washington Fellow 2016 under the Civic Leadership track at Wagner College, Staten Island, New York. Since his return from that program he’s involved through DECLIC in developing Casamance young people’s leadership with the ambition to contribute in making them function as active change makers in their communities.
