Meet ISPA's 2018 Netherlands Fellowship Program participant Tamar Brüggemann!

Tamar Brüggemann

From 2001 to 2013 Tamar Brüggemann (1981) worked in different departments for the Early Music Organization, famous for the Utrecht Early Music Festival. From 2013 to 2016 she was managing director of Holland Baroque, a radically versatile baroque orchestra. In the same period Tamar developed, together with her co-director, Wonderfeel, an outdoor festival for classical music, located in the woods in the centre of the Netherlands. The format takes its cue from pop festivals, with seven stages and a continuous program from 12 AM until midnight, featuring (inter)national artists, lecturers and poets in 130 performances over 3 days. The third edition took place in summer 2017, inviting the Dutch national newspapers to remark “Wonderfeel is thé summer party” (NRC) and “Wonderfeel adds incredibly much atmosphere to the music” (Parool). The Belgian newspaper De Standaard requested in its review: “Who brings this to Belgium?”

Tamar holds a Master's degree in Language and Culture Studies from Utrecht University and has attended several Musicology courses at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2014, 2016 and 2017 she was one of the fellows of ISPA and from 2017 she is part of the International Jury of EFFE, which gives the biennual EFFE Awards to the most remarkable festivals in Europe. To occasionally breathe some fresh air outside the cultural bubble Tamar plays football since last year and hopes to win at least one match this season.
