Meet ISPA's 2018 Global Fellowship Program participant Ruchira Das!

Ruchira Das

Founder, Director, ThinkArts

Early in her career, Ruchira Das decided to leave the corporate world to follow her heart and work with the arts. She would spend 15 years working with various arts organisations across India, in different capacities, before founding ThinkArts in December 2013. The charter of her organisation is to facilitate high quality, transformative arts events for children and young adults and is grounded in the belief that meaningful creative experiences are essential for children to develop their imagination and emotional intelligence.

Based in Kolkata, ThinkArts has collaborated with partners across India and internationally, to bring a diverse programme of literary, visual art, dance, theatre to children and young people in several cities across India. In a short span of three years, it has worked with over 20 national and international companies, reaching over 25000 people through its work in schools, heritage spaces, museums, galleries and theatres. ThinkArts has also created innovative art engagements for children and has been the recipient of a few prestigious international grants.

In the last few years Ruchira has been invited as a delegate to leading children’s festivals in Germany, UK and Australia. She has forged connections with companies that create quality performances for young audiences, and has been instrumental in bringing many of these shows to India.

Ruchira was a participant at the Atelier for Young Festival Managers 2014 organised by the EFA. She is an ARThink South Asia Fellow (2015) and a Global Fellow at ISPA (2016).
