Meet ISPA's 2018 Scotland Fellowship Program participant Belinda McElhinney!

Belinda McElhinney

Scotland

Executive Producer, Barrowland Ballet

Since 2012 Belinda McElhinney has been Executive Producer for Barrowland Ballet, one of Scotland’s most exciting and successful contemporary dance theatre companies, built around the work of choreographer Natasha Gilmore. Belinda produces the company’s internationally touring works for children and adults, Tiger Tale, Poggle, Whiteout and Little Red; as well as their intergenerational large-scale professional participatory performance projects, Wolves, The River and Bunty & Doris. Whilst at Barrowland Ballet she completed her MSC in Young People, Social Inclusion and Change, researching with the unaccompanied minors in Scotland about the sociological and psychological benefits of an arts based participation group. In 2015, outwith Barrowland Ballet, Belinda set up Standing Tall Arts, to deliver a bi-monthly arts participation group for unaccompanied minors. Prior to Barrowland Ballet Belinda was General Manager at Ankur Productions and worked as Arts and Cultural Development Officer for Scottish Refugee Council, producing the annual Refugee Festival Scotland.
