Meet ISPA's 2018 England Fellowship Program participant Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh!

Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh


Artistic Director (CEO), ZENDEH

Touring theatre company leadership & management, and directing Artistic Director
(CEO) and Founder of ZENDEH, an award winning national touring Theatre Company “connecting the personal with the political” since 2004. Awarded an Amnesty International Commendation Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2005. ZENDEH is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organization based in Newcastle, working nationally, internationally, and locally. Strategic work includes Facilitator and Founder Member of Creative Case NORTH since 2011.

Directing based roles in theatre buildings
Awarded an Arts Council England Trainee Directorship at the CURVE (Leicester Haymarket Theatre) in 2001 – 2002. Staff Director at Derby Theatres (Derby Playhouse) 2002-2003. Associate Director Theatre Workshop Edinburgh 2005 – 2007.

Freelance Directing and Dramaturgy for theatre and dance
Natalie Diddams (2016), Company of Others (2013), Talawa Theatre Company (2011 & 2010).

Creative Case for Diversity and Equality, Leadership and Management, Change Management, Directing for the Stage, and Ethical Business Modeling – Since 2010: Scotland, England, and Wales.

As a chair person, and talking on panel: on theatre and the creative case, and as well as a keynote speaker at national and regional cultural events: most recently: DaDaFest D’Visions Liverpool Everyman, and Creative Case NORTH Leeds City Museum.

Education at graduate level
1999 BSc Hons in Media Technology from the University of the West of Scotland (University of Paisley), specializing in: digital filmmaking, online content creation and management, and developing online learning resources.
