With compositions for octet and for string quartet, Passenier uses scenes from nature to symbolize deep experiences. By collaborating with VJ Anne Gentenaar, using footage filmed for the project in Japan, the USA, the Netherlands, and her own lab, Passenier’s musical ideas are translated to the screen, all created live on stage. Lit Scenes consists out of two parts. Part 1 is String Quartet No.1, performed by the renowned Dudok Quartet Amsterdam. For part 2 the line-up expands to an octet. Influences range from contemporary big band, to Ligeti, Bartók and Ravel. With room for improvisation, in the octet pieces pianist Bart Van Caenegem and bassist Matthias Akeo Nowak are heavily featured.
