WACHTER (‘the one who waits’ or ‘the guardian’) is a compelling music theatre performance, created and performed by the Frisian singer/poet Nynke Laverman. About the art of waiting as a potential answer to our growing disconnection from nature. An important issue in today’s world, captured by Nynke in an intense, moving performance. The Frisian songs are embedded in an English-spoken fairy tale. A surrealistic love story about a cellist and a forester who merges with his forest one day and turns into a tree. Nynke is accompanied by sound artist/percussionist Sytze Pruiksma and cellist Geneviève Verhage in a fascinating scenography of a four-meter-high marionette, half owl, half tree.
