Opportunity for Emerging Global Performing Arts Leaders

Application to ISPA 2018 Global Fellowship Program now open

Tuesday, August 1, 2017 – The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) is now accepting applications for the 2018 Global Fellowship Program. The program will support emerging and mid-career leaders in the performing arts to join the ISPA membership and attend the New York ISPA Congress taking place January 9 – 11, 2018. ISPA accepts applicants from all regions of the world, with priority given to applicants from developing economies. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 17:00 EDT.

About the Fellowship Program

The Global Fellowship Program was created in 2007 to provide emerging and mid-career performing arts professionals with an opportunity to engage in the development and exchange of ideas with leaders from some of the world’s most significant arts organizations, increase their industry knowledge and resources through educational opportunities, and share their experience with their communities. The program just celebrated its 10th year! Since inception, ISPA has invested over $325,000 in 124 Fellowships from 46 countries.

In 2018, Fellows receive:

  • One-year ISPA membership with access to all member benefits;
  • Full Pass registration to the New York 2018 Congress (January 9 – 11, 2018);
  • One-day Fellows-only Seminar prior to the New York Congress (January 8, 2018);
  • Subsidy to assist with travel and accommodation expenses related to attending the Congress (subsidies do not generally exceed 2,500 USD); and
  • Introduction to a current ISPA member who will welcome the Fellow to the Congress and help facilitate their participation as part of ISPA’s Community Building Program.

Applicants are reviewed by a committee representing the ISPA membership, Board and staff. Please note that while ISPA welcomes applications from all eligible parties, as demand exceeds resources we are only able to award the most competitive applications. In 2018, 18 – 20 Fellowships will be awarded.

About ISPA: The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) is a global association of more than 500 arts management leaders from 56 regions, who come together with the shared goal of strengthening and developing the arts internationally. We achieve this by building leadership ability, by recognizing and discussing field-wide trends and new developments, and by deepening global exchange through the arts. ISPA members include presenters, performing arts organizations, artist managers, competitions, funders, consultants and other professionals working in the performing arts. Founded in 1948 by Patrick Hayes, 2017 marked ISPA's 69th Anniversary.

About ISPA Congresses:
ISPA Congresses bring together performing arts leaders to discover the next great idea, strengthen relationships, and rejuvenate their passion for the arts. Programming is geared toward administrators, presenters, managers, agents, artists and government/cultural leaders. ISPA holds two Congresses annually, one every January in New York City and a second Congress in a different region of the world. Recent International Congress locations include Seoul, South Korea (2012), Wrocław, Poland (2013), Bogotá, Colombia (2014), Malmö, Sweden/Copenhagen, Denmark (2015), and Melbourne, Australia (2016). ISPA’s 100th Congress, Identities, was held in Montréal, Canada in May 23-27, 2017. For more information about ISPA congresses, visit http://www.ispa.org/?congresses_about.
