A Live Documentary: Witness the Kronos Quartet
Thursday, April 12, 2018
Today we're highlighting A Thousand Thoughts, a live documentary with the Kronos Quartet written and directed by Sam Green and Joe Bini. Some may remember this recently premiered work was presented to delegates at the New York 2017 ISPA Congress - at that time yet to be titled and now with much news to share!
A Thousand Thoughts tells the story of Kronos’ 40-plus year history through live narration, archival footage, vignettes, interviews, sound bites, and live music performed by Kronos. At its heart, the work is a meditation on music itself — the act of listening closely to music, feeling it deeply, and its power to change the world.
An extensive tour has begun in celebration of Kronos' 45th anniversary season! The work premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews, since screening at Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio; at NYU Abu Dhabi; and just this week at the Castro Theater in San Francisco as part of the SF Film Festival. Next stops include the Barbican, Brighton Festival, new national opera house in Athens, and New York come September! Keep up to date on their news here.
With a proven track record for success. ISPA's Pitch New Works program continues to assist works in development with securing touring dates, regional agents, co-commissions, premiere, and more.
