The First Americas Cultural Summit Explores the Theme of Cultural Citizenship

From May 9 to 11, 2018 in Ottawa, Canada, the inaugural edition of Americas Cultural Summit brought together leaders in public funding of arts and culture from across the Americas to discuss their role and impact on the rise of cultural citizenship.

Organized by the Canada Council for the Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Argentina and the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies, the Summit was attended by more than 160 officials and artists from across the Western Hemisphere and beyond. The sessions examined the role culture plays in societies from the top of North America to the bottom of South America. Some of the speakers for the Summit included ISPA's very own colleagues: Maria Claudia Parias, ISPA Board Member and Executive President of Batuta Foundation, and Martin Inthamouss├║, ISPA Fellow and General Director of SODRE. ISPA's CEO David Baile also attend the Summit and shared his experience as it happened
