News & Press: "Pitch New Works" in Action

"POP-UP Duets (fragments of love)" Launches International Tour

Thursday, February 8, 2018

Did you attend Pitch New Works at the recent congress? Today, we’re highlighting project news that we shared with delegates in New York last month. POP-UP Duets (fragments of love) by Janis Claxton (choreographer) and Pippa Murphy (composer) was first introduced to ISPA delegates last January at the New York 2017 ISPA Congress.

The work is a series of 5-minute, contemporary dance duets designed for a wide range of public spaces such as museums, galleries, cafes, libraries, and designed to emerge from public situations to be enjoyed by invited as well as accidental audiences who find themselves passing by.

POP-UP Duets (fragments of love) will now embark on a 2018 tour across Scotland and internationally with further dates and locations continuing to be announced! We were delighted to see ISPA member connections including The Pickle Factory (India), Singapore International Festival of Arts, and Jacob’s Pillow (USA), the latter at which Janis Claxton Dance will be the first Scottish group to perform since the Celtic Ballet of Scotland, founded by Margaret Morris, made its U.S. debut at the Pillow in 1954!

With a proven track record for success, ISPA’s Pitch New Works program continues to assist works in development with securing touring dates, regional agents, co-commissions, premieres and more.
