Al Parque Festivals in Bogotá

Bertha Quintero Medina, cultural manager and percussionist, graduated as an Anthropologist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Bertha has 40 years plus work experience with state agencies, private companies and NGOs. She is a Specialist in Cultural Management, development and implementation of cultural policies, and has conducted research on education, gender, art and culture, urban renovation, rural development, as well as issues related to ethnic groups and diverse populations in a vulnerable situation. She has previously been the manager of Bogota’s cultural politics, at the District Institute of Culture and Tourism, from 1990 – 1997. Bertha was the creator of Festivales al Parque and Rock al Parque 1994 projects, and founder of women salsa bands and music groups. Bertha won the 2001 National Grant from the Ministry of Culture under research, social science, urban studies, identity, gender and territory, and was deputy Director of Populations in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education. She has been a counselor to the Vice – Ministry in Preschool, Elementary and High-school Education and Advisor of Education for the Arts at the Ministry of National Education. Bertha has worked as Assistant Director of the Arts at the District Institute of Arts – IDARTES since 2011.
