Rafael Palacios | Speaker

Colombian choreographer, dancer, teacher and researcher of traditional, contemporary and urban African dance. His experience as a dancer in Africa and Europe has been the basis for founding the Sankofa company. Palacios was awarded the 2008 National Dance Award with the work San Pacho... Bendito!; National Dance Counselor and Advisor for Black Communities (2009 - 2011). Rafael Palacios is a professor of the Ministry of Culture’s Train The Trainer Program in the Pacific Region 2007 – 2013 and the creative director of the Colombian dance shows for the Summit of the Americas 2012. He was a guest choreographer for the opening of the Cali World Games 2013 and director of the Educational Project, Pasos en la Tierra, held since 2008 in the Pacific region that earned an Honorable Mention from the United Nations in 2010 as a Good Practice of Social Inclusion for Afrodescendants in Latin America.
