|Fellowship Participant - Ira Judkovskaja|
After graduating from the Theater Academy in Amsterdam, Ira Judkovskaja (Moscow, 1975) worked for six years as a freelance director at different theater companies in the Netherlands. She directed repertoire plays like Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe (1999), Orgy by Pasolini (2000), Macbeth (2010) or Uncle Vania (2013). Later Ira started to work with new written plays and with multidisciplinary theater, like a location specific opera Elisabeth Bam with a fanfare-punk band De Kift (2003), or dance theater with Hans Hof Ensemble (2005 and 2007).
From 2008 Ira is Artistic Director of Tryater, a Frisian company based in Leeuwarden. Besides of directing and writing, Ira introduced a generation of new theater-makers and educated young actors within the company.
Last year Ira was artistically responsible for the opening ceremony of the Cultural Capital of Europe in Leeuwarden.
