Jaberi Dance Theatre

Roshanak Jaberi is an Iranian-born Canadian artist residing in Toronto. She is a Dora Award nominated performer and choreographer, as well as a producer, and the Artistic Director of Jaberi Dance Theatre (JDT). JDT works across sectors and across borders, creating contemporary and inter-disciplinary political art, with a focus on the stories and lived experiences of racialized women. Roshanak has a research informed artistic practice that values collaboration, community, experimentation, risk-taking and knowledge sharing. She creates thought-provoking and emotionally driven work that aims to deepen our understanding of global human rights issues through the art of performance. Roshanak holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University and has presented her work in Canada, US, and Europe. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Dance Umbrella of Ontario and has previously served on the Toronto Arts Council Dance Committee and the Canadian Dance Assembly Pluralism Committee.
