Lucy Rugman

Artistic Director
Lucy Rugman

Lucy is a free-lance clarinettist and creative music practitioner. She performs regularly with many of the leading orchestras in Sweden such as the Royal Opera in Stockholm and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Lucy is also a theatre musician having held the contract for Phantom of the Opera in Stockholm and is currently performing the brand new Swedish hit musical – As it is in Heaven. Along side her performance career, Lucy is one of the leading specialists in the practice of live creative music in health care settings, such as special educational needs schools and hospitals. Through using music as a creative and interactive tool, Lucy communicates with the young people with additional needs and allows room for their artistic expression. Lucy is successfully establishing a link between many of the Swedish classical music institutions and their communities, in which they reside, through her project called ‘Fritt spelrum’. This project gives young people with additional needs access to the highest quality music and the chance to create and perform their very own music in these prestigious venues. Lucy has designed and delivered projects for the Royal Philharmonic Stockholm, Västerås Konserthuset and Stockholm Concert Orchestra.
