Osiel Ibanez

Head of Production

Osiel Ibáñez (Stockholm, Sweden) is the Head of Production at Selam, an independent, non-governmental, non-profit music organization with offices in Stockholm and Addis Ababa. Selam organizes and promotes festivals, concerts, tours, club nights and forums presenting global music with sounds from mainly Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean in professional venues. The organization works with development within the music industry in a Swedish, Nordic and international context. Selam operates a Swedish/East African music network and has long‐term experience of working with the aim to strengthen cultural sectors in a range of African countries.

Osiel’s interest for cultural rights, put in an international context has come naturally, growing up in Sweden with Chilean parents that lived as refugees in three different countries. During his six years at the organization he has structured methods and strategies for promoting diversity within public culture, by combining business and organizational theories together with his experience from programming for different target groups. Osiel holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Dramatiska institutet (current Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts) and a Master’s Degree in International Business from The Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

Osiel was featured in the “Fellow Spotlight” article in the February 2015 issue of our members only e-newsletter Network. Click here to read the article.
