Together with director Gisèla Mallant, Frénk made the TV documentary Verloren band, about the 40-year cold war between his father and mother after their divorce. The enthusiastically received film led to a reconciliation. Early 2017, 700.000 Dutch people watched their documentary 'The railway to Auschwitz', about why the Allies in the Second World War did not bombard train connections to the extermination camps and the gas chambers of the Nazis.

In addition to his journalistic work Frénk conducts debates and congresses. Recently he also organized meetings on social issues. Recently, for example, neurologist Dick Swaab and philosopher Daniel Dennett crossed swords about the question of whether free will exists.

In his hometown Haarlem, Frénk has been a Sustainability Ambassador for several years. He is also ambassador of VillaPinedo, platform for children of divorced parents.
