 Playwright, screenwriter and librettist Michel Marc Bouchard has written more than 20 plays that have been translated into 15 languages and performed in the most prestigious theatres and festivals in Québec, Canada and worldwide. Several of his works have been adapted to film, namely: Lilies (John Greyson, Génie Award for Best Motion Picture, 1996); Tom at the Farm (Xavier Dolan, Critics Award at the Venice Mostra, 2013); and The Girl King (Mika Kaurismäki, Audience Award at the Montreal World Film Festival, 2015).

Bouchard has received many awards, including the National Arts Centre Award (Ottawa); the Dora Mavor Moore Award (Toronto); the Primo Arte Candoni Award (Italy); the SACD Award (Paris); the Lambda Literary Award (New York) and, more recently, the Laurent-McCutcheon Award (Montreal). Critics associations in Montreal, Toronto and Mexico have also rewarded him on numerous occasions. Bouchard is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec as well as a member of the Académie des lettres du Québec. In 2015, his name was added to the Larousse.

 Auteur dramatique, scénariste, librettiste et maître d’œuvre d’exposition, on lui doit une vingtaine de pièces de théâtre traduites en quinze langues, jouées dans les plus importants théâtres et festivals québécois, canadiens et étrangers. Plusieurs ont été adaptées pour le cinéma dont Les Feluetttes (John Greyson, Génie du meilleur film canadien, 1996), Tom à la ferme (X. Dolan, Prix de la critique à la Mostra de Venise, 2013) et The Girl King (Mika Kaurismaki, 2015).   

Récipiendaire du Prix du CNA (Ottawa), du Dora Mavor Moore Award (Toronto), du Primo Arte Candoni (Italie), du Prix de la SACD (Paris), du Lambda Literary Awards (New York) et du Laurent-Mccutcheon (Montréal), il a reçu plusieurs prix des associations de critiques de théâtre dont ceux de Montréal, Toronto et Mexico. Il est officier de l’Ordre du Canada, chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec et membre de l’Académie des lettres du Québec. Il a fait son entrée au Larousse en 2015.
