Kate Champion is the Artistic Director of Sydney based dance theatre company - Force Majeure. The company regularly performs at Australia’s major festivals as well as in France, Ireland, Canada and Korea. The company is renown for its humane sensibility, striking aesthetic and seemless integration of multi art forms. Kate has directed all of its productions to date.   In addition to her role with Force Majeure Kate has worked variously as a dancer, choreographer, teacher and rehearsal director for companies including the Australian Dance Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, English National Opera, Opera Australia and, significantly throughout the nineties, DV8 Physical Theatre - London. Kate is also the choreographer of the original stage production of Dirty Dancing and will be Associate Director on Opera Australia’s production of The Ring Cycle in 2013. Kate has been awarded Helpmann, Green Room and Australian Dance Awards along with the Robert Helpmann Scholarship for Choreographic Excellence.
