Bescanó Theater

Born in Girona, Catalonia (Spain) in1969, Quim Marcé has been working as a technician of culture for the City council of Bescanó for 21 years, a population of about 5000 inhabitants near Girona. There used to be a theatre where two or three performances took place every year. However, four years ago, the City council decided to bet for culture and rehabilitated the old theater, creating a modern and functional institution. Quim is the current Director at the Bescanó Theatre which offers more than 60 performances every season.

The theater of Bescanó is well-known in the area because of its cultural offer, but their complaint against the government’s VAT rise by selling carrots has served as a device to stir up public interest the world over.
