David CodlingDavid Codling | Speaker

As Regional Arts Director David Codling has led the British Council’s arts strategy for the Americas since September 2011. The interplay between the arts, politics and social issues has been a constant feature of his work for the British Council in several countries: in Turkey (twice, in very different political circumstances) as well as in Spain, Palestine, Egypt and Sudan. Before joining the British Council David was a programme administrator for the World Health Organization and before that he worked for a Palestinian cultural foundation, operating throughout the Eastern Mediterranean and based in Jerusalem.

Originally from the borderland between Scotland and England, David studied English literature at University College London and later went on to study Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies, also in London.
