Gabriel Prokofiev

Gabriel Prokofiev | Speaker

Gabriel Prokofiev is a London-based composer, producer, DJ and founder of the NONCLASSICAL record label & club-night.

Composing music that both embraces and challenges western classical traditions, Gabriel has emerged at the forefront of a new approach to classical music in the UK at the beginning of the 21st century.  Through his organisation Nonclassical (which he founded in 2004) Gabriel has challenged the conventional ways in which classical music is presented, becoming a central figure in the Alternative Classical scene in Europe.

His compositions have been performed at a diverse range of venues, from the Royal Albert Hall and Tchaikovsky Hall, through to East London night-clubs & warehouses. With performers including Daniel Hope, Vladimir Jurowski, Sascha Goetzel, Seattle Symphony, Luxembourg Philharmonie, Russian State Symphony, Copenhagen Philharmonic, and Princeton Symphony.

Gabriel is published by Faber Music, and lives in Hackney, London, with his partner and their three young children.
