The ‘ISPA Pitch Session’ is always one of the most popular events during an ISPA congress. With a proven track record for success, the Pitch New Works program continues to assist works in development with securing touring dates, regional agents, co-commissions, premieres, and more. We know it’s important to highlight these successes, and so will begin to feature success stories on Pitch projects to our members!
First up, we’re delighted to highlight a success story involving the Australian dance group Shaun Parker & Company. In January 2014, Artistic Director and Choreographer Shaun Parker along with Executive Producer Olivia Ansell pitched their company’s latest work “Am I” to over 500 delegates. The company’s work caught the eye of several Artistic Directors, and as a result both Central Park SummerStage and the Central Park Conservancy teamed up to present another work by the company – Spill. Although not the work they originally pitched, the opportunity to participate in the Pitch New Works program gave the company additional exposure which led to additional exposure and the successful securing of dates in New York.
If you happen to be in New York this week - be sure to catch Spill, the exciting outdoor performance created specifically for playgrounds and aiming to take dance to the heart of local communities. Performances are free, and details can be found on their website.
